Classic Pizza Dough

Fresh dough makes for a better pizza-  this is easy!

Materials

  • 4 cup Peter Pan Flour
  • 2/3 cup Morrison's Yellow Premium Cornmeal
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
  • 5 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  • Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl until combined.
  • Knead the dough for about 4 minutes, dipping hands in water if dough is sticking to them too much. Allow dough to rest for 15 minutes.
  • On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough for an additional 2 to 3 minutes until it is smooth and stretchy.
  • Form the dough into a ball and place it in a bowl brushed with oil, rolling the dough around so that its covered.
  • Let the dough sit at room temperature for two hours or until doubled in size. 
  • Pre-heat oven to 500°F (allow up to an hour to pre-heat).
  • Divide the dough into two pieces (or four for individual pizzas), then roll out into large rounds with a rolling pin.
  • Place each pizza on a baking sheet, then top dough with sauce, cheese, and toppings of your choice (don't go too heavy!)
  • Bake pizzas for 10-15 minutes, or until cheese is bubbling and just starting to brown.
  • Serve immediately.
